A manual discount is a one-off price reduction for a single booking: a goodwill gesture, a local's rate, a manager's call at the counter. It's different from a promo code, a reusable code that applies under set rules (see how promo codes work).
In this article
There's no separate Discount button on the Payments tab. You give a manual discount by lowering the ticket's price.
Discount a ticket
- Open the trip and find the guest's ticket.
- Open the ticket's Actions menu and choose Change Ticket Price....
- Enter the new price and select Change Price.
Only that ticket changes, and the balance updates. To reprice several guests or a whole activity at once, see Comp, uncomp & reprice tickets.
You need the Override individual prices on items permission. If Change Ticket Price... isn't in the menu, your permission group doesn't include it, or the trip is locked.
Use a promo code instead
For a repeatable offer, or to apply a code to this booking, select Promo on the trip's Payments tab and enter the code. See Apply a promo code to a booking.
Frequently asked questions
How do I give one guest a discount?
Open the guest's ticket Actions menu, choose Change Ticket Price..., enter the new price, and select Change Price. The balance updates.
What's the difference between a manual discount and a promo code?
A manual discount is a lower price your staff sets on one ticket, for any reason. A promo code is a reusable code that applies under rules you set. Use a manual discount for a one-off and a promo code for a repeatable offer.
Why can't I change a price?
Usually a permission or a locked trip. Changing a price needs the permission to override individual prices on items, and it doesn't work on a locked trip.
